From 11 to 15 May 2026, the ALMEX partners will take part in a study visit to the University of Alicante in Spain. The five-day programme will focus on Spanish experience in alumni relations, career support, entrepreneurship, fundraising, and digital management of alumni communities.
The visit will open with partner presentations, an overview of the programme, and an introduction to the University of Alicante’s approach to alumni engagement. Particular attention will be given to the Alumni UA Programme and to the broader development of alumni networks in Spain. This will allow the partners to explore how universities can maintain contact with their graduates after graduation and gradually turn these connections into sustainable professional and institutional relationships.
The programme will also address areas that directly shape the quality of the university environment: inclusion, diversity, student support, entrepreneurship, and labour market orientation. Participants will work with practical examples of employability support and career acceleration. For ALMEX, this part of the visit is especially relevant, as alumni engagement is closely connected with the university’s ability to support graduates beyond their formal period of study and keep them involved in the academic and professional community.
The international dimension of the visit will be reflected in discussions of the UnInLeCo and W-RISE projects, as well as in a round table on engaging Ukrainian graduates abroad. This topic is of practical importance for Ukrainian universities, as graduates living and working in different countries can contribute to academic links, professional networks, partnerships, and the international presence of their home institutions.
A key part of the programme will focus on digital ecosystems for alumni management and engagement. During a dedicated workshop, participants will discuss CRM architecture, data segmentation, communication funnels, and compliance with personal data protection requirements. The agenda will also include discussions on fundraising at the University of Alicante and among ALMEX partners, offering space to compare different approaches to the financial sustainability of alumni-related initiatives.
The final day will be dedicated to summarising the experience gained during the visit and considering its application within ALMEX work packages. Partners will review the main insights and identify which practices can be adapted to their institutional contexts. The study visit to Alicante will therefore contribute to a shared understanding of how universities can develop systematic, ethical, and effective cooperation with their alumni communities.
