In March 2026, the ALMEX project will continue its series of joint international activities with a study visit to Amsterdam, hosted by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Scheduled for 16–20 March, the visit will bring together representatives of the partner institutions for professional exchange and joint work on approaches to developing sustainable interaction between universities and their alumni communities. A total of 15 partner representatives are expected to take part in the visit.
The upcoming visit will mark an important stage in the implementation of the project, as it will focus on those aspects of alumni engagement that directly influence the institutional development of universities. The programme will address strategic models of interaction with alumni, practices for building long-term relationships, communication management tools, as well as the organisational and ethical foundations of this work, including data protection and confidentiality issues.
A separate thematic focus will be placed on the broader role of alumni communities in the development of the university environment. Participants will engage with topics related to supporting entrepreneurial initiatives, fostering innovation ecosystems, and expanding cooperation between universities and professional communities. This approach makes it possible to view alumni engagement as a practical resource for strengthening institutional capacity, developing partnerships, and creating new opportunities for growth.
An important part of the programme will also be its international dimension. One of the visit’s events will take place at the Embassy of Ukraine in The Hague and will focus on the role of the diaspora in supporting and developing alumni relations. This broadens the scope of the professional exchange and highlights the importance of alumni networks as a significant factor in institutional presence, solidarity, and international cooperation.
The study visit to Amsterdam is intended to create a space for meaningful exchange of experience among the project partners and to contribute to the development of solutions that can be adapted to different university contexts. This kind of joint work is an important component of the implementation of ALMEX and of the further development of effective models of interaction between universities and their alumni.
